One of Dimidium’s best-kept secrets is undoubtedly its garden.
Like everything here, it’s a little unconventional. Its first peculiarity is its location: instead of surrounding the house, the garden lies on the opposite side of the road. Many guests assume it isn’t part of the property at all, and sometimes they almost miss it—along with the chance to experience one of the most beautiful things this corner of Emilia has to offer: peaceful silence, a constant gentle breeze, and sweeping views over the surrounding hills and the Enza Valley.
The garden is also unique because it follows the natural slope of the hillside, reflecting the landscape of our region, where dramatic clay gullies meet soft green meadows. Although Dimidium is right in the heart of the village, the garden stretches away from the road, offering privacy and an authentic connection with the nature that surrounds Selvapiana.
Throughout the seasons, flowers and plants continuously change colour, the lawn turns a vibrant green in spring, and hammocks shaded by light canopies invite you to slow down and simply enjoy the moment. A winding path now leads to the gazebo, once the gathering place for summer barbecues with friends and now home to our newest addition: a beautiful heated outdoor hot tub.
Over the years, this little piece of land, lovingly cared for since the day we arrived, has become the perfect place to experience the peaceful atmosphere of Dimidium from spring through autumn.
Our hot tub completes the garden, creating the perfect setting to enjoy a truly relaxing moment in the heart of the Emilia hills. On cooler days, the water—heated to nearly 40°C (104°F)—offers a wonderfully soothing escape. During summer evenings, when the temperatures remain pleasantly mild, it becomes one of the most enjoyable experiences of your stay.

Breakfast in the Hot Tub
Imagine waking up before everyone else, stepping outside while the village is still asleep, wrapping yourself in a soft bathrobe and slipping into perfectly warm bubbling water.
Waiting beside the tub is a wicker basket filled with everything that makes a Dimidium breakfast special: homemade cakes, traditional erbazzone, fresh ricotta from the dairy in Selvapiana, jams made in the nearby Apennines, yogurt with cereals or seasonal fruit, fruit juices, and your favourite hot drink.
It’s not every day you get to start your morning like this.
Aperitivo in the Hot Tub
As evening approaches, before heading to one of the wonderful local trattorias for dinner, take some time to savour a truly special moment.
Relax in the hot tub with exclusive use of the garden while enjoying an aperitivo featuring some of the finest flavours of our region: local wines, Parmigiano Reggiano, traditional erbazzone, gnocco fritto, cured meats and local cheeses.
